If you don’t mind traveling with your pup, hop on the highway and head to the Bayou Bakery! The eatery aims to capture the culture of southern, New Orleans-style food, so their menu is delicious. Offering breakfast until 11 a.m. on the weekdays and other meals like blackened turkey meatballs, baked cheesy mac, sandwiches, and soups until 7 p.m., your dog will surely enjoy the smells of your tasty meal combined with fresh air as he loyally sits by your side on the patio. Happy hour is every Monday-Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on the weekends, the Bayou Bakery serves brunch all day long. If you swing by the Bayou at the end of the day, you can buy one pastry for yourself and get one free for your furry friend! Whether you grab your dog a peanut butter cookie or just bring him along for the ride, he is always welcomed with a smile on this eatery’s patio.
Tyson’s Biergarten is for the German-beer enthusiast, and they allow pets! The main beer hall features some of Germany and Belgium’s finest beers or seasonal specialties. They also carry over 100 American craft beers, and their food menu is filled traditional German bites like schnitzel sliders, cheddarwurst, and potato pancakes. The biergarten is open 7 days a week, with live music every day. There is also Yappy Hour every Monday from 3-9 p.m., when pet rescue organizations set up booths for fundraising and sometimes bring dogs for adoption. Obviously, the atmosphere is pet-friendly, so bring your pup, crack open a cold one, and relax on the patio around a picnic table.
This trail is a corridor filled with rich history, pathways and waterways. The Potomac Heritage Trail links the tidal Potomac and the Youghiogheny river basins and has something for everyone, especially your dog. You can explore this area that George Washington once did, because the Potomac was the central hub in his life. Washington envisioned it as “the great avenue into the Western Country” because he used the river as a highway from the east to the wild west, and he owned about 12,000 acres of land along the area in scattered locations. Give your dog a little history lesson as he explores the Potomac Heritage Trail!
